HARRISBURG, Pa. -- April 9, 2010 -- Tyco Electronics introduces the new SlimSeal Solid State Lighting (SSL) connector for indoor and outdoor lighting applications. The connector was developed to meet customers need for a sealed, low-profile, single-row LED connector for use in a variety of rugged lighting conditions.

The SlimSeal SSL connector maintains an IP67 seal rating -- making it suitable for indoor and outdoor residential, commercial and architectural applications that are exposed to wet environments such as billboards, live event shows, and street and tunnel lighting. Additionally, the connector can be used in traditional lighting fixtures and commercial refrigeration.

Key features include UV-resistant wire-to-wire and wire-to-board configurations, SMT and thru-hole headers, positive integral latching and pre-assembled seals. The polarized, RoHS-compliant connector -- available in two, three and four positions -- accepts 18 through 24 AWG stranded wire. Housings are manufactured with UL 94 V0-rated high temperature-resistant thermoplastic.

Electrical performance characteristics include an operating current of 5 Amps, a maximum operating voltage of 250 VAC/250 VDC and a 1500 VAC dielectric withstanding voltage rating.

Amphenol Class L Heavy Duty Connectors are the largest sized cylindrical connector, highly suitable for industrial or military applications, and designed to meet the demands of heavy power interconnections. Manufactured of high strength aluminum, these heavy duty connectors are able to withstand high impact which makes them suitable for harsh environments.

Other unique features include:

• Gaskets and/or O-rings at appropriate surfaces create perfect weather tight connections.
• Double stub coupling thread for faster mating, no cross threading, and easy cleaning.
• Left hand accessory threads to minimize cable twisting, wire breakage, accidental connector disassembly.
• Amphenol Class L heavy duty connectors can be exposed to harsh environmental conditions, without compromise of mechanical integrity or degradation of electrical performance.

Amphenol Class L heavy duty connectors carry current ranges from 40 to 200 amps with conductor sizes 6 to 4/0. Safety features are incorporated to assure protection of personnel and equipment if connectors are inadvertently disconnected under load. Class L connectors are available only in the specific configurations prescribed by MIL-C-22992 for either military or industrial applications. This rigid configuration control assures correct interconnection of electrical circuits for maximum safety and reliability.
