Hi respective community,
Im a newbie in fpga environment. I use ise 8.2 ,virtex 4 lx evaluation board and parallel cable iv.
Recently, i try to connect at av bus connector (P1 in board) after download my design in fpga board, after that, LED that supposed to lit turn off ( D2,D3,D4) and also "DONE" led. The status LED at parallel cable IV that supposed solid green change to solid amber (indicate that no VREF detected).
I try to reconnect all the cable and power source but the condition is still the same. did my board short? i try to configure with my impact software, when i initialize chain, an error " there are many unknown devices" occured.
Please anyone help me. Im much appreciated all your effort.
Thanks in advance.
Rgrd,
myms

If you are not using the JTAG chain connected to the P1 connector, you should have a single jumper installed in JP20 pins 2-3 (default). If you are using the JTAG on the P1 connector (JTAG is used on the AVBus module), then you should have two jumpers installed on JP20 pins 1-2 and 4-5.

Also, make sure power is connected to the JTAG cable.

Hi,
Thanks for the prompt responses.
I already installed a jumper in JP20 pins 2-3.
I connected the JTAG chain on the J8(on board) indicate for parallel III. Our design will give the output through P1 connector which connected to the AVbus connector. The Avbus connector will be connect to the smart chip and it will be read by the card reader that connect to PC. Below a simple flow of devices for the design:
PC--FPGA--smartchip prototype--card reader--PC(debug)
The avbus connector release 3 pin (CLK,RST,IO) and GND. We connected all 4 pin to the smart chip prototype. But once we installed the avbus connector to PI on board, the situation mention above occurred. When I turn off the board and on again, the LED doesn't lit anymore as same as the cable didn't detect the vref on the board.
Could you help me explain what are the problem? Please help me. Thanks in advance.

You mentioned earlier you're using a PC4 JTAG cable. If that's the case, you need to connect the JTAG canle to the JP17 connector.

Have you tried the JTAG cable without a module connected to the P1 connector? Also, are you sure the JTAG cable is good (have you tried this cable with any other board)?

Thanks for the responses.
Have you tried the JTAG cable without a module connected to the P1 connector?
- Already tried, but condition still the same, the LED (D2,D3,D4) still not lit
Also, are you sure the JTAG cable is good (have you tried this cable with any other board)?
- Jtag cable is good as i've tried connected to another board(virtex 4 -xcvlx25) and the LED status turn solid green(indicate that vref detected)
Are the board has a certain security action such as when the board are shorted, certain component will react first to prevent all the other component not burned?
Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Please take a look at the attached user's guide and make sure all jumpers are set correctly. I have no other suggestions, the board could have been damaged.

Thanks again for the responses.
The board already setup as mention in user guide.I already went through the user guide before downloaded the exsiting design project in the FPGA.
If the board damaged, is there any other way to get this board from avnet despite of buying latest board? Realized that the board not in list as your product anymore.
Please help me.
Thanks in advance
