The two original installers that have caused so much grief have been removed from the DRC, and have been replaced with a single installer created by Installshield. I hope this will eliminate most of the issues that have been reported with the original packages. The program has not changed, so if it is working for you, no need to download again. However, if you need to move from Windows XP SP2 to Windows XP SP3, please uninstall the current version of AvProg that you have, download the new installer, and run that. You will be able to update the driver using the Windows Device Manager - detailed instructions are included in the .pdf. All files are installed under the C:\Program Files\Avnet\AvProg folder.
Please report any installation issues to this chain.

Is there any particular reason for using the "fancy" blue design for AvProg, instead of a plain Windows design? I am having problem using the GUI in Wine, because the top dropdown menu's don't appear, as mentioned here: http://community.em.avnet.com/t5/Spartan-3A-Evalua
Regards
Christoffer

If you are under Linux, you might like to try asteriaekipro
a OS-tool to program the Spartan3A Eval boards...
No need to fiddle around with wine just a pure console tool ![]()

Christopher,
If you want to disable the skins on startup, simply rename the Skins directory to something else. You'll get a message that says skins are not available on startup, and then the standard GUI will be used.

I'm sorry. But I don't really know this "asteriaekipro". Where do I find it? I've already google it and the only results have pointed to this forum ...

Hi,
I'm in a process of re-starting my interest in this kit. New laptop, Win7/Pro.
I want to leave as much as possible space on the system disk for the always greedy selfish never-satisfied Microsoft and their super-clever features (like storing used MSI packages in Temp [!!!] directory, and prohibiting uninst/upgrade if they are not found there, or keeping all those frequent leavened hotfix/patch/SP backups forever). No disk is large enuogh to keep this hunger up.
I was not able to find a command-line switch not option to change default installer behaviour. What else should one do to install AVProg elsewhere?
TIA,
H.

You can relocate the Avnet directory after installation. Just recreate or update your shortcut.

Thank you, Bryan.
Additionally, I searched the registry & found at least the installation record to be modified:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{5A3AC13A-BA02-4362-8B44-F1AD A014DE33}\InstallLocation="C:\...."
