I certainly wouldn't buy another one unless it was significantly cheaper than the Basys.

Hi everyone and Avnet.
I agree with you guys, that Avnet shouldn't have discontinued this product, and that it is a great product for newcomers.
I think Avnet should make a new batch indeed, so I can get one of theese boards too.
Currently I have a couple of different FPGA boards, Spartan 3, Spartan 3A, Spartan 3E, Lattice, Altera and my own Spartan 3E board. - but you can always use another :-)

If you are looking for a lower cost FPGA kit, Avnet has just announced the Spartan-6 LX9 MicroBoard for $89. The form factor and feature set are different than the Spartan-3A Eval Kit, but it is under $100 and a good starting point for RTL and Embedded designs.
